Rory rides 2025 Tour de France for Cure Leukaemia

In June 2025, I will be tackling The Tour 21 on behalf of Cure Leukaemia, alongside 18 other amateur cyclists as we look to complete the full Tour de France route one week ahead of the professionals.

Starting in Lille, The Tour 21 will take place across June and July and will tackle all 21 grueling stages and 3,500km of the Tour de France route - one of the world's most grueling sporting challenges.

Many years ago, I fell in love with watching the Tour de France. I was inspired by the tenacity and athleticism of the riders, the camaraderie and spirit of the people who dotted the route to champion on their favorite cyclists, and the beautiful countryside of France. I always wondered what it would be like to experience first-hand the world’s most prestigious bike race. A few years ago, I was presented with an opportunity to actualize those dreams, and I began my training.

Participating in this meaningful journey is deeply personal for me, inspired by my experiences with loved ones who have faced cancer. In 1990, I lost my Aunt Debbie, after a brief but fierce battle with breast cancer; she was only 37. A few short years later, my father, only 54, succumbed to colon cancer. Two years ago, I faced the heartbreak of losing my mother after a brief five-month fight against gallbladder cancer. I ride in their memory, as well as for friends who have endured the unimaginable loss of children, and for those currently fighting against leukemia. Each mile is a tribute to their strength and resilience.
