From Michelle Maisonville

My dear childhood friend, Wade Phelps, and his wife, Theresa Phelps, have been separated from their two oldest children due to immigration issues. They require funds for legal fees to hopefully reunite with their kids.

Wade and Theresa Phelps were both widowed when God brought them together. Theresa had fled the Congo/Rwanda area with her three children and was granted asylum in the United States. Wade fell in love with both beautiful Theresa and her kids. After he and Theresa were married in March 2025, he legally adopted her children. He had long hoped and prayed to become a father, and his prayers were finally answered. His late wife had also told him to find a loving partner again, and he had thankfully found that in Theresa. The family met all of their legal obligations by regularly meeting with Immigration and filing all necessary paperwork. The elder two children (young adults) were busy with post-secondary school and work. Wade and Theresa’s eldest son wanted to be a firefighter and give back to his new home, while their daughter worked as a nurse’s aid with the goal of becoming a full-fledged nurse. Their youngest son still attends high school.

Even though Wade and Theresa’s family were following all of their obligations, sadly, this past week (last week of November 2025), at what they thought would be a routine meeting with Immigration, their two oldest children were taken into custody. Wade and Theresa are now fighting a legal battle to be reunited with them. To make things more challenging, Wade has lupus, and flare-ups make it difficult for him to work as hard as he would like. His oldest son would often help get him to his treatments when necessary.

Both young adult children live at a stable address, have valid work visas and SSNs. They are employed and in post-secondary school. They have no criminal history whatsoever.

I have personally known Wade for over forty years. He is the true family man. His love for his wife and children is true and strong. He's overjoyed to finally be a dad after many years of waiting. He is so in love with his beautiful wife, and she with him. Wade will do anything to provide support to anyone. He has been active in his church his entire life. He has taught his children to care for others by giving back to their community. Of all the people that I know in this world, no family deserves more happiness than Wade, Theresa, and their kids.

Please, please help bring this family back together with your donations and share their story with others. If you are unable to donate, please join us in prayer. Wade and Theresa wish no ill will to anyone. They love their country. They just want to be back together under one roof as a loving family.
