200 Years ago, John and Nancy Grant traveled from New Jersey, across the Northwest Territory, to settle a farm in present day Alliance, Ohio. Their family endured and left a lasting legacy, leaving the farm to their youngest daughter, Sarah Haines, and Her Husband Ridgeway Haines. Today, Sarah and Ridgeway Haines are recognized as our regions leading Abolitionists, opening up their home as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Today, visitors travel from across the United States to experience the history of Freedom Seekers, Trailblazers, and Abolitionists.
