House of Toast 2026

Who is House of Toast?

We are a collective of geeky folks who run the House of Toast room party at Arisia, a science fiction/fantasy/lifestyle convention in Boston, MA. We made our debut at Arisia 2019 at the Park Plaza Hotel. We've been running this party (nearly) every year since then to great acclaim and for great fun since then.

So what’s the big idea?

When you enter the party, you pick your toast (white or wheat) and then proceed to the toppings table, where an elite cadre of toast slingers will assist in topping your toast. Up to three toppings are allowed for each slice, and there are over 50 to choose from! Want Nutella, Cajun seasoning, and sprinkles? Or maybe peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and hot sauce? It's up to you!

Why are you running this campaign?

We want to continue to run this party into the foreseeable future because it's unique and open to all people who love the Maillard reaction to bread.

The reaction that we've received since 2019 has been overwhelmingly positive and the con-goers love the House of Toast so we want to continue to bring Toast to the masses. If we were to suddenly disappear it would make Arisia sad. Don't make Arisia sad.

We want to grow and expand the party ensuring that con-goers will not go hungry while they make merry at the other con parties.

Plus we've had a hangout place right next to the party room called The Toast Lounge.

Indeed. Donate to this campaign and help continue to provide for the lounge. "One cannot explain the Toast Lounge. You must see it for yourself."

What we will use these funds for:

As our main goal is to spread the word about HoT and serve more con-goers, we need a room and supplies.

A hotel suite is not cheap and is where the large majority of the expenses will go to pay for the party room.

Beyond that we need:

• New, fresh supplies of the many many toppings that we will provide.
• Additional decorations for the room
• Personal protective equipment for the Toast volunteers and slingers like gloves and masks (Safety first!)
• Paper plates and sanitary utensils

Ideally, we'd also like to build a reserve to fund future years, and allow opportunities for improvement and expansion.

What You Get

All incentives can be picked up at the party room on Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the convention. The location of the room will be made known to all as soon as its made available.

The chosen toaster name and picture are subject to review by HoT.
