GROWING ROOTS FOR TOMORROW LPJ

Why a Permanent Home for LPJ Matters?

Le Petit Jardin began in 2008 as a small, home-based preschool, a place filled with laughter, learning, and the joy of childhood. As our community grew, we moved to our Red Hill campus in 2014, creating space for more families to join our garden of growth.

After navigating the challenges of the pandemic, our team returned to the classroom with renewed purpose and creativity. We worked with care to rebuild what had been paused—restoring the rhythm of learning, laughter, and connection that defines LPJ. Just as our community was finding its stride again, we received word that our lease would not be renewed at the end of the school year.

We reopened in 2022 with one classroom in Mill Valley, ready to rebuild with hope and determination. Then, in late 2024, we were told we’d need to move again at the end of the school year. The uncertainty of that announcement deeply affected our community, leading to a 40% drop in enrollment before we later learned we could remain one more year.

Each of these transitions, though met with creativity and grace, has been profoundly disruptive for our teachers, our families, and the children we serve. The emotional and financial toll of constant change has made one truth clear: it’s time to plant roots that can’t be pulled up.

By purchasing our own building, we can remove the uncertainty of leases and landlords, create lasting stability, and focus our energy where it belongs, on nurturing children, supporting families, and growing our programs with confidence and care.

A Home Built for Learning, Laughter, and Longevity

Owning our own space means creating something intentional and lasting, a place designed from the ground up for children to thrive and teachers to flourish. With our trusted design and construction partners, we’ll shape a space that reflects LPJ’s values: beauty, creativity, and the joy of early learning. This property is perfectly placed, just off the freeway for easy access, nestled in the very community where our families already live. Its generous size allows for four classrooms, an expanded outdoor park and play area, and plentiful parking for families and staff alike.

Expanding Possibilities

A larger, permanent space means more opportunities for children to join our program and for educators to grow in their work. With the addition of another classroom, we can welcome more families, provide additional employment opportunities, and further invest in our staff and students.

Strengthening Our Roots in Marin

This building isn’t just a new chapter; it’s an anchor for the entire LPJ community.

Our Southern Marin campus has become the heart of our operations, where demand for our program is strongest and where our financial foundation is most secure. Investing here gives LPJ the stability and strength needed to support all our campuses and families across Marin.

By securing a permanent home, we can build from a place of confidence—ensuring that all LPJ continues to grow, serve, and shine as a source of light, love, and learning for generations to come.

Transparency, Trust, and Togetherness

We’re committed to transparency every step of the way. Supporters will receive regular updates through our newsletters, website, and social media—with photos, videos, and progress milestones. After purchase, we’ll ensure the building remains financially sound through careful stewardship, community partnerships, and potential shared-use options to help offset costs.

A Legacy of Light and Language

LPJ was born out of love, for children, for the sacred wonder of childhood, and for the gift of language that connects us across cultures and generations. This project ensures we can continue to offer these gifts to the children of our community for years to come.

This building represents more than walls; it represents belonging, stability, and hope. It’s our chance to stay in our beloved Southern Marin community and to put down roots that will grow and bloom for generations. Together, we can make this lasting home a reality.
