INTENT to ESTABLISH
The Frank J.P. Hemphill Scholarship for Excellence in Leadership and Service Fund.
ESTABLISHMENT of the FUND
The Fund will be established with donations sought from Alumni of Hiram College and others who desire to donate. The intent is to raise a minimum of $2,500 to be awarded as an annual scholarship to student(s) who meets the criteria set forth below.
NAME of the FUND
The name of the Fund shall be the FRANK J.P. HEMPHILL SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE IN LEADSERSHIP AND SERVICE.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Fund is to establish an annual scholarship to be awarded to student(s) with financial need or as an emergency fund for financial aid appeals. Preference should be given to student(s) who are members of the Black Student Union (BSU) organization (or its successor if there is a future name change) or have made a significant positive impact in the Hiram College minority community. Recipient(s) shall embody characteristics displayed by Frank J.P. Hemphill; leadership, mentorship, service, and a sincere commitment to help others. In the event the scholarship cannot be awarded in a given year, the amount that would have been given will remain in the fund for the following year. The annual scholarship will be known as the FRANK J.P. HEMPHILL SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE.
