A note from Courtney and Rebecca, fundraiser organizers: 

On August 7, 2025, only 1 week postpartum with her infant son, our dear friend and cousin Lissa received a phone call from the "police" which resulted in a 3-hour, elaborate and targeted financial fraud scam. Within one afternoon, Lissa's world was turned upside down as she lost every cent of her financial resources, but most importantly, her sense of independence, safety, and trust. Our network acted quickly to help Lissa secure her household and family as well as her credit and remaining assets. Now, we aim to help Lissa regain the funds so she can return to her recovery and care for her family. A police report has be filed and an investigation is underway, but we know that financial scam cases are extremely difficult to process and justice will be a very long wait, if it ever comes. Knowing this very hard reality, we have organized this fundraiser because Lissa needs immediate help in supporting her family and moving forward from this traumatic experience. Please join us in community in surrounding our beloved Lissa and her children with best wishes and love and donating resources as you are able.
